Sad Mina
I created this original gouache painting as part of an invitational show this spring at local screenprinter Ink Lounge right when the world shut down due to COVID-19. It was based on a photo of my dog Mina hanging her head over the edge of the stairs. Since she's a Great Dane, she has these wonderful soft floppy lips that come totally away from her teeth when her head is sideways like that. Combining a dog's general desire to always go outside with the general feelings we all had this summer about wanting to safely go about our normal lives, I lettered "I'm ready to go back outside now" on the stair below her face. Own a piece of history with a hand-pulled screenprint of this bright, hopeful illustration.
The original on illustration board and the limited edition screenprints are all 8x10, signed and numbered.
