Augustana Arts

IDENTITY FAMILY AND COLLATERAL DEVELOPMENT

Augustana Arts came to Paperglee in 2019 with a dream to reach new audiences, improve understanding of their offerings with existing audiences, and elevate and streamline their look and feel. The arts organization, hosted in a Lutheran church in southeast Denver, was operating 3 ensembles, a concert series, and an educational outreach program—and the executive director was stretched very thin keeping all five entities going without a cohesive message.

Collaborating with the inimitable Up & Up Creative and the whole Augustana Arts team, we distilled their brand message and then created a beautiful new look and feel for the brand. At the top are images of the main Augustana Arts parent brand; scroll for collateral made for each ensemble / entity inside it.

After setting up the basics of the parent Augustana Arts brand, the team and I turned to the sub-brands for the various entities within it. Stratus Chamber Orchestra and the two Chorales are house ensembles, while the Concert Series hosts local and national touring acts, and Music Encounters provides music education opportunities to kids in Denver’s underserved schools. We wanted to create a visual language that spoke to all these various goals and venues but also made it clear that they were part of a family. Each has a unique color and some shared colors, and the use of fresh, evocative multipoint gradients in the parent and child logos is a common thread.

Event-based deliverables such as posters, postcards, flyers, social media posts, and programs needed spiffing up as well. Paperglee created templates for all of these with unifying and distinct elements for each of the sub-brands.
